Elesta x Malakai
a divine generation
It was a normal February day, the ice under her feet was thick and the air was chilly. She was standing at the bottom of a mountain, staring toward the top where a few birds circled.
She couldn't help but think that the view would be fantastic from up there. If only she were a bird. She eyed the side of the mountain, seeing a nearby ledge and jumping up onto it. Perhaps she could climb to the top, since she couldn't fly... She jumped further, scrambling up the side of the mountain, her nails digging into the ice as she fought her way up. She lept from the side and onto another ledge, sliding across the ice. Cracks appeared underneath her feet and she danced away, confused. The mountain should have been solid underneath her feet, so why was the ground breaking beneath her? She didn't have long to think about it though, as the cracks spread under her and quickly broke free. She let out a loud yelp as she fell into the hole that echoed off the walls that now surrounded her. Thankfully she hadn't climbed far so she didn't fall for very long. She landed with a thud, followed by a low groan and she pulled herself back to her feet. She could tell that the air around her was much colder than outside, although thankfully it didn't bother her. She took a moment to look at her surroundings, quickly coming to the conclusion that there was absolutely no easy way out. She began pacing along the walls, hoping that she would somehow find an opening... |
The mountains flanked him on both sides. He had been traveling North for some time; he told himself it was because he enjoyed the cold but truth be told he wasn't entirely sure of the reason. It was beautiful up here, but he didn't have a destination in mind. He would need to figure it out soon though. Before he could think anymore about the topic a loud crashing sound echoed around him, followed by a squeal that sent the birds fleeing from the mountainside. Amongst the sound of shifting ice he could decipher the sound of footsteps nearby although no new shapes had entered his vicinity. He walked toward the footsteps, which were now accompanied by low muttering of words he couldn't make out. He paused as he came to what felt to be an opening, although it was blocked by more rocks that must have fallen a previous time.
"Hello?" he called, focusing his senses on the movements on the other side. "Are you alright?" As she paced back and forth, unsuccessful in finding any openings, a voice drifted through the air. Someone was here to help her!
She bounded toward the voice, stopping at yet another wall. "Yes? Hello?" she responded, hoping they hadn't walked away. "Hello!" the voice repeated, "Are you alright?" "Yes, I'm fine! I just can't seem to find a way back out of here." she said, looking around the small cave again. She looked back to the wall of rocks, concerned as the voice turned into the sound of shifting stone. |
"Hello?" she called again, unsure.
A stream of light appeared from the top of the wall, a few rocks falling from their places. "Y'think you could get out through here?" the voice asked. She didn't even think twice before she was scaling up the rocks and pushing through the hole he had created. She despised small spaces and being stuck in that cave was starting to get to her. She squeezed out of the opening, sliding down the other side a little ways. The rocks were more of a small hill on this side rather than a wall. She turned, looking behind her. "Thank you! I thought I would be stuck in there for days, if not longer," she said, glancing back at the hole and then smiling at her rescuer in relief. "It's no problem," he said, walking smoothly past her and down the hill. "I heard the rocks fall as I was walking this way. Figured you might need some help." She turned and followed him down, sliding as she went, not nearly as graceful as he was. "I appreciate it!" she said, leaping off the hill as they neared the bottom. "I'm Elesta, by the way." "Malakai," he responded, smiling softly, "Pleased to meet you." |
